So we're back from the Hat with a late update. Raodi took a third place the first day we showed, and a second the second day. No points, but she showed better each day so I'm happy with that. Mostly handler errors. Many thanks to my breeder's wonderful friend for taking video of us the second day, so I know what I need to work on in my handling before NACA! I also need to set up some kind of proofing exercise for food on the ground... talk about a bait hoover!!! Another handler complained to my breeder that I was showing a lame dog and should be disqualified. My breeder explained that, while Raodi moves a bit differently because of her surgery, she is pain free and enjoys the ring. It's not like I'm a horrible, heartless owner forcing a dog in pain to show so that I can have titles and glory. I'm not the first person this lady has done this to, but it still bothers me that she was very sweet to my face and went behind my back. Such is life, I suppose.
I haven't seen Squeaker in a week and a half because of being away at the dog show. I know that the barn owner would call if there were any problems. I'm so glad that I have someone I can trust taking care of her when I'm not there! Next week I should be getting my new saddle, so I'm really looking forward to that. I miss riding her!
My son is doing well. Thursday was his eighth birthday, and I kind of felt like a bad mother leaving for the dog show that morning. He doesn't understand the details of the showing, but he knew it was important to me and he was fine with that. We'll be celebrating belatedly with my sisters and their families and my parents this weekend. I really can't believe how fast he's growing up!!!
