Back to the Grind

Classes have resumed for my son and I after the Christmas break, and it's both nice and frustrating to be back. My son seems to have gotten back into the swing of things faster than I have this term. That may be partly because I'm still fighting with the school's computer system trying to change one of my courses. I REALLY don't want to be taking intro classics -- it does nothing towards my degree (my junior credit is maxed out and all my options are filled already) and is simply a way for me to keep my course load high enough to be eligible for the vet schools I applied to.

Oh yeah, that happened -- I got my applications to UCVM and WCVM in on time, and am now playing the waiting game to see if I get selected for an interview at either of them. It's hard to be patient!!

So I'm trying to get out of Greek and Roman mythology and into neuropharmacology instead, which is a course I actually need for my minor. So far there are no seats available, though, and the school has the waitlist function on the registration system turned off for some reason, so I'm having to keep checking back every hour or so to see whether a spot has opened up. Frustrating. Monday is the last day we're allowed to make changes, so here's hoping....

The horse I'm leasing and I have been going well together, and I'm starting to figure him out better. Yeah, it's taken a bit of time, but I feel like I'm at a disadvantage being so unfit and riding his very bouncy self, plus I never was much of a catch rider! I've decided to make it official and switch to dressage, since as much as I love jumping I'm in crippling pain for two or three days after even small crossrails. Stupid no-cartilage knee! I'm also casually shopping.  I looked at a mare last month who was lovely, but after a lot of discussion and consideration I just don't think she's right for me no matter how much I love her. Too bad! I've inquired about another, so we'll see....

Raodi is officially retired from competition, and we've decided not to breed her for various reasons. Sprite is quite old now, so we're on the list for a pup from Raodi's breeder, from a specific bitch when she is bred. I don't know yet whether I'll compete with her, or just take some time away from the sport and enjoy her. Time will tell. In the meantime, I should go do my algebra assignment....
